The Greatest Explorers
In this unit, the children will investigate the lives and journeys of five explorers from various eras; ibn Battuta, Roald Amundsen, Captain Robert Scott, Neil Armstrong and Sunita Williams.
The children will study an explorer from different perspectives, thinking about what makes an explorer 'great', and who might not think that.
How can parents / carers support learning at home?
You can reinforce and support pupils in lots of ways:
- Play a treasure hunt around your home.
- Look at maps, an atlas or a globe and talk about the world.
- Visit museums and whilst looking through the exhibitions, talk about how lives were in different eras.
